A Cheap Night Out Without Crushing Your Budget

We all know it is hard living in a recession, but there are still ways you can go out of the town without completely wiping yourself out. It is of course a time to be frugal, but there is no need to stop having fun for good. There are some great ideas for how to enjoy dinner and a movie, while still sticking to your budget.
.
You can have fine dining without ever leaving the house. Go to the grocery store and grab some great ingredients from a good recipe to prepare a fantastic meal at home. If you are the type of person who burns water, then invite over some family or friends to help you out. This will not only make your life easier, but it will be more fun as well. You can still create that restaurant atmosphere with lighting and candles. And for those social butterflies, why not invite a bunch of friends over for a crazy night of potluck?
.
If you really, really want to go out, there are ways to do that too. You can become a member of a restaurant; they usually give discounts or specials to preferred diners. Skip on the drinks, they tend to double your bill before you know it. Instead of dinner, spring for a lunch, the prices are usually cheaper and the menu is basically the same.
.
For the movie junkies out there, you don’t have to give this up! Make a movie night and do it big. Watch a classic old movie. Invite people over, make some treats that you couldn’t get at the theater. A great plus side to this is you can stay cozy while you watch. Encourage guests to bring some pillows and wear their flannels for a true night of relaxation. You won’t be bothered by people sitting behind you and whether you invite any crying babies is totally up to you.
.
When a movie night just won’t cut it, think about subscribing to services like Blockbuster. They will send you up to three DVDs in the mail and it will only cost you about $20 a month. But when it comes down to it, if you really need to get to the theater, go for a matinee where the prices are much cheaper. You could also try going to that old theater in town where you haven’t been to in years. Smaller companies are having a hard time too, so they will usually have lower prices and some even offer coupons. So even though not everything is free, if you can create a great memory, it is priceless!
